Favorite NFL Player

My All-Time Favorite is Roger Staubach. This guy was the original 4th quarter comeback king. He had a great arm, and scramble ability. He was a leader of men, and one of the most clutch QB's ever to play the game. Before Montana, before Elway, before Favre, and before Brady, there was ROGER STAUBACH "Captain Comeback".

My All-Time favortie is Lynn Swan, But in the league right now my favorite is Adrian Peterson.

back to the emmitt bashing, i said i would not put emmitt in top 10 from the perspective of pure runner... he was a consistent performer with all the tools except flat out speed. and i have a man-crush on his ability and career


as for who was sherman williams and lincoln coleman - coleman was a flash inthe pan that had a few good games, came straight from a loading dock to training camp if i remember right. lasted 3 years or so in the league, williams was a very talented back from(georgia?) cant remember, had all the tools, no drive or determintion. last i heard he was out of the league and busted for selling pot(for nate newton maybe?)

i probably should have said roger staubach and saved all this bickering. guy won a hiesman, finished his navy commitment, came to americas team and beat out the veteran quartaerback and went on to win 2 super bowls and play a few others.....on top of all theat he is a fantastic human being. he owns a property managemnt company in my city.

I think RCG is a closet Cowboy fan with all this Cowboy love he has.
and it funny you mention Montana cuz he is a guy I also think is super over rated and him and Emmitt are sitting in the same boat IMO.

Furry- I alway enjoy your opinion if I agree with it or not. Before coming to Tampa, I was a Cowboy fan. However, as soon as I made the switch, my hatred of any and all opponents had to persist. Even as a Cowboy "admirer", I lost all respect for that organization when Jerry Jones took over after he booted Jimmy Johnson. Adding T.O. was the final nail in the coffin, but I will always have my childhood memories of "being" Roger Staubach in my backyard.

By the way, Bo didn't know Tampa. He gave us the finger after our a-hole owner took him #1 after Bo said he'd never play here. LOL.

AMEN RCG2! First thing that everyone needs to realize is that EVERY player in the NFL is far better than anyone that any of us have ever played on a field with. Next thing is, Emmitt Freaking Smith owns the record for most yards and tds rushed EVER, so he was obviously pretty damn good. Barry Sanders MAY have the record if he didn't hang it up early, but his lineman were pretty damn good as well (they were all one of the top 140 people in their profession). I would love to be considered one of the top 140 people in my profession. There isn't a significant drop between the best left tackle in the nfl and the 32nd best (even though Madden makes it seem like there is). Comparing Sanders and Smith is like trying to compare Apples to Oranges, or Beef to Chicken. Both players are Hall of Famers and had different styles of running. The question that was originally asked was, who is your favorite player (remember the question is subjective based on your personal preference).

I am a Packer fan and Brett Favre is my all time favorite player from my favorite team. Nothing that happens now that the Packers have moved on with Rodgers will sway me from that until someone else elevates themselves to that level. If Favre walks into Lambeau wearing the ugly Purple, I will cheer for the Packers to pound him silly. I will also cheer for him if he has a good game.

Like I said before Im not sayin Emmitt has zero talent..Im just saying for the numbers he has they are inflated because of the talent around him. I still believe he is not one of the top 20 most talented RBs in football history.

Yes at any givin time the player that are in the NFL have a certain level of talent to be able to make the Pro league. That does not mean that they are outstanding players. I know there are plenty of guys that are riding the pine on one team that could start on another team.. talent is not balanced out through the league.
Also even if you are a top 140 player 5 guys could be A-players
15 B-players
40 C-players
60 D-players
20 F-players
and this varies over any given time period.

Barry did play with 1 real good lineman, Lomas Brown,but he wasnt there the last few years of Barrys carrer..including his 2000 yard-MVP season..Kevin Glover was the only other lineman that was better then average, he did make 3 pro bowls.

I know this is about a persons favorite player and if some loves Emmitt they love Emmitt..but for anyone that picks up a sports almanac and say.."Hey Emmitt has the most yards and TD, he must be the greatest RB ever" they are crazy and dont know what the hell they are talking about. The guy was strong, the guy was durable, the guys a Hall of Famer..but greatest RB talent wise ever he is not. Atleast 20 guys in the same situation would have done even more. Ill put him in the top 50.

I guess it all depends on how you grade running backs...By talent, stats, etc. etc.

So the only thing Emmitt leads in is he had 1 more TD a year...but
-Had more Offensive help
-Had a far better O-line
-Barry got taken out alot in goalline situations cuz Wayne Fontes wanted a bigger guy in there
-and teams stacked more guys in the box cuz Barry was all Detroit had(and he still dominated)

big ben is the best. He is an exciting clutch qb that wins super bowls at a young age.
