Re: Best Movie of 2008
I agree with most of you. The Dark Knight was by far the best movie this season. Ironman was pretty good too. Too bad the academy won't recognize The Dark Knight as one of the best of the year cause they will consider it a blockbuster and not "artistic" enough.

Re: Best Movie of 2008
are you serious msu? thats so gay. dark knight should win an academy award. i also think the fact that this was heath ledgers last performance adds to they hype of the movie.

Re: Best Movie of 2008
They may recognize Heath Ledger (by far the best performance of an actor this year) as a supporting actor, but I doubt they will give the whole movie the credit that it deserves. The academy likes artsy fartsy flicks like Doubt and Frost/Nixon.
Look at this except about the Golden Globe nominations (which usually line up directly with the Oscar nominations that follow):
"And "The Dark Knight," the year's top box-office success and the runner-up for best picture among the Los Angeles Film Critics, earned just one nomination, a supporting actor nod for Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker."

Re: Best Movie of 2008
Wow, not sure why I am surprised so many people said the Dark Knight. Its now one of my favorite movies of all time, so I guess shouldn't come as much of a surprise. It was just an awesome performance.

Wow, it seems as if it's almost a clean sweep for the Dark Knight... There weren't any other truly great movies this year though IMO.

Re: Best Movie of 2008
just because one of the main actors in a film dies doesn't make the movie great. i agree batman is the best of 08' and that christian b. is the best batman ever but heath l... please jack n. was a way better joker at least he was funny.. even i can make a pencil disappear.<---only funny line in movie too bad the borne movie came out last year cause it's way better!!! batman was a little disappointing to me i think because everyone hyped it up way too much. and if any one picks the crystal skull they are an idiot.

Re: Best Movie of 2008
I agree with what you said wer2n8s, but I didn't consider the dark knight great only because of heath ledger's performance. I think the cast that they put together did an awesome job. heath ledger is a way better depiction of early comic book joker (maniacle serial killer) and nicholson fit the mold of the tv show/cartoon joker that was more about laughs than being a villian. I think that christian bale is the best batman but the performance by gary oldman for gordon and morgan freeman for lucius fox were extraordinary. I haven't even mentioned aaron eckhart who played harvey dent/two face way better than tommy lee jones did. oh and the most important part of the movie (the musical score) was developed by two of the best in the business, hans zimmer and james newton howard. my favorite part of the movie is when batman "flips" the semi. that was completely original and spectacular if you were watching it in the right theatre.
